HB-12 "FLIGHT DECK"
Three hundred metres of timber and steel that decided a war.
By 1942 the flight deck had replaced the gun line as the working surface of naval power in the Pacific. Strike aircraft launched, recovered, and rearmed in cycles that ran from before dawn to after dusk. Damage to the deck stopped operations more reliably than damage to the hull. The ship itself became a platform for the wing it carried.
For those who understand that the working surface of any system is where the work, and the wear, really happen.
Harborborne. Built to Endure.
