Privacy policy
1. Who this policy applies to
This Privacy Policy explains how Harborborne collects, uses, discloses, and protects personal information when you visit harborborne.com, place an order, or contact me. Harborborne is operated as a sole trader business based in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia. The ABN is [INSERT ABN HERE].
This policy is written to comply with the Australian Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs), as they apply to Harborborne.
2. What personal information I collect
When you place an order or interact with the site, I may collect the following categories of personal information.
Contact details, including your name, shipping address, billing address, phone number (if you provide one), and email address.
Payment information, processed by Shopify and the payment gateway you select. I do not see or store your full card number. Shopify and the gateway hold that information under their own policies.
Order information, including what you ordered, when, the size and variant, and any notes you added at checkout.
Communications, including the content of any email you send me and any order notes.
Device and usage information, including your IP address, browser type, pages visited on the site, referring URL, and information captured by Shopify and by any analytics tools I use.
Marketing preferences, if you have subscribed to the newsletter.
3. How I collect it
I collect personal information directly from you when you place an order, subscribe to the newsletter, contact me, or interact with the site. I also receive information automatically through Shopify's standard logging and through any analytics or marketing tools that I have installed, which are disclosed in section 6.
4. Why I collect and use it
I use personal information for the following purposes.
To accept and process your order, including passing your name and shipping address to the production partner that will print or manufacture your order.
To deliver your order, including sharing delivery information with the shipping carrier.
To contact you about your order, including confirmations, tracking, and any follow up needed.
To handle returns, warranty claims, and customer service requests.
To send marketing emails, but only if you have opted in.
To analyse how the site is used and to improve it.
To meet legal and tax obligations, including record keeping required by Australian law.
I will not use your personal information for any purpose that is not listed above or reasonably related to it without your consent.

Shopify, which hosts the store and processes orders and payments on my behalf.
The payment gateway you select at checkout.
The production partner who will print or manufacture your order. Tees and hoodies are produced in the United States. Sneakers are produced in China. Your shipping address and order details are passed to the relevant partner for that order only.
The shipping carrier who delivers your order.
An email marketing provider, if you have subscribed to the newsletter, to send newsletter emails and order related automated emails.
An analytics provider, to understand how the site is used.
Government authorities, if required by law.
I do not sell personal information.
6. International transfers
Because Harborborne works with production partners in the United States and China, and because Shopify stores data in data centres outside Australia, some of your personal information will be transferred outside Australia. When I transfer personal information overseas, I take reasonable steps to ensure it is handled in a way that is consistent with the Australian Privacy Principles. I rely on the standard contractual protections offered by Shopify and by the production partners I work with.
7. Cookies and tracking
Shopify sets a number of functional cookies that are required for the store to work, including cookies that remember your cart and your currency. I may also use analytics and marketing cookies to understand how the site is used. You can control cookies through your browser settings. If you are visiting from the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, the site will offer a cookie consent option as required.
8. How I protect personal information
I take reasonable steps to protect personal information from loss, misuse, interference, unauthorised access, modification, and disclosure. Shopify provides the underlying security for the store, including encryption of data in transit over HTTPS. Personal information is retained only for as long as I need it for the purposes described above and for the periods required by tax and commercial law.
9. Your rights
Under the Australian Privacy Principles, you have the right to request access to the personal information I hold about you and to request that I correct information that is inaccurate. You can make a request by emailing hello@harborborne.com.
You have the right to withdraw your consent to direct marketing at any time by clicking the unsubscribe link in any marketing email or by emailing me.
