HB-34 "TURRET"
A rotating fortress, eight hundred tons of armour and gunwork, traversing on a roller path the diameter of a small house.
The main turret was the heaviest single object on the ship that needed to move. Inside, the loading sequence ran on hydraulics and discipline. Above, the rangefinder and director sat in the open. Below, the magazine and shell room fed the breech through a hoist that needed to be exactly as fast as the firing rate. Every part of the turret was a system, and the system worked because the parts did.
For those who understand that the visible part of any machine is usually the smallest part of the engineering inside it.
Harborborne. Built to Endure.
