19 June 1944, the Philippine Sea. The carriers kept fighters overhead on combat air patrol, and through the day those fighters, flying protection over the fleet, met four waves of attacks. Each of the larger carriers embarked one fighter squadron of about 40 F6F-3s. Span 42 ft 10 in, six guns. Our own top-view drawing, with no markings.
