HB-63 "SUBMARINE PEN"
Concrete roof, three metres thick, hardened against a kind of bomb that did not yet exist when it was poured.
The submarine pens at Brest, Lorient, and the other ports of the French Atlantic coast were the most heavily protected industrial buildings on either side of the war. Aircraft could not break the roof. The pens worked through the campaign and survived the campaign. Some of them still stand. The boats they had sheltered were broken up decades earlier.
For those who understand that the building lasts longer than the doctrine that built it, more often than not.
Harborborne. Built to Endure.
