HB-47 "HANGAR DECK"
The deck below the deck. Where the wing lived between cycles.
The hangar deck was the workshop of the ship. Aircraft were folded, parked, refuelled, rearmed, and repaired inside it. Lifts carried them to the flight deck above when the cycle called for them. Damage control in the hangar was its own discipline, because a fire in a parked, fuelled wing was the worst case the design office had ever drawn. Most of the engineering of the carrier was about keeping that case from happening.
For those who understand that the most important room on any ship is the one designed against the worst day it could have.
Harborborne. Built to Endure.
