HB-35 "SCAPA FLOW"
A sheltered anchorage in the Orkneys. The home of the Grand Fleet, and the place where another fleet quietly went under in 1919.
Scapa Flow held the British Grand Fleet through the long watch of the first war. After the armistice, the interned ships of the German High Seas Fleet sat in the same water under different colours. On 21 June 1919, on a prearranged signal, the German crews scuttled the fleet where it lay. Seventy four ships went down inside a single afternoon. The anchorage was made the grave of the type that had been its purpose.
