Thirty three knots. A long straight wake across a quiet morning. The signature of a fleet carrier on the move.
The fleet carrier worked at speeds the older capital ships had not been built for. A full speed run produced a wake that could be seen for miles and could be read for course, speed, and intent. The geometry was unmistakable. A scout pilot who saw it once would never mistake it again. The wake was the ship's first message to anyone watching, before the radar found her.
